Full course description
Sometimes described as "The First Blow for Freedom," Rhode Island's Gaspee Affair re-awakened American colonial patriots between the Boston Massacre (1770) and the Boston Tea Party (1773). The raid was made into "an affair" by the incendiary rhetoric of a Boston Baptist Minister named John Allen.
This self-paced course takes the reader through 5 learning modules that cover the 5 chapters of the book. Additionally, a historiographical module discusses the changing nature of how historians understand and explain the past.
Steven Park is an educational technologist and maritime historian who works at Wheaton College.
